Usage

Launch the Azure Connector from QVSource and click on the Authenticate button:

Image

You will be shown a Microsoft sign in page - enter your credentials, which needs to be a Microsoft Live account.

Image

You will then be asked to give QVSource permission to access your Azure Marketplace account

Image

Once authenticated you'll be taken back to QVSource with the 'Refresh Token' box populated.

Image

Now that QVSource is authenticated you can now go to the Azure Marketplace.

Using the Azure Marketplace

Go to the Azure Marketplace, sign in and click on the 'Data Services' link. You'll be presented with all the data sets in the Azure Marketplace. In this example we'll be using the Bing Search Data set.

Image

Click on the data of interest and you'll see more information about it

Image

You need to subscribe to the data set, so pick the subscription level that you want to use.

Image

Accept the terms making sure that your use with QVSource won't break them

Image

Once subscribed, click on 'Explore this Dataset'

Image

On the right side is where you can construct your query

Image

In this example we just want to do a web search, so pick Web for the Query type

Image

The UI will change slightly. Now enter the search term, which for this example will be 'QlikView'

Image

At the bottom of the web page, click 'Run Query'

Image

The results of the query will now be displayed. We can now copy the query url, which is near the top of the page.

The important thing to note here is that the parameters you use to configure your query should be part of this url. This means that these parameters can be replaced/changed in your QlikView load script so you do not need to keep returning to this web interface (see below).

Image

And paste it into QVSource

Image

On going to the 'Connector Data' tab and selecting the 'Data' table the query will now be executed.

Image

Going to the 'QlikView Load Script' tab will give you the QlikView Script to copy and paste into your QlikView application

Image

In this script, you can see the search term 'QlikView', which could of course be replaced by a QlikView variable and so a loop could be created in your load script which performs a search based a number of different search terms.

Checking Your Azure Marketplace Subscriptions

You can use the 'SubscriptionInfo' table to see which Azure Marketplace subscriptions you have
