QVSource: The QlikView & Qlik Sense API Connector (Docs)

QVSource works great with Qlik's latest Qlik Sense release as the load script part of the product has remained largely unchanged. We also now have a new web edition of QVSource which makes the experience even better with Qlik Sense.

IMPORTANT: Please note however that currently, depending on your version of Qlik Sense, you may need to make a minor configuration change to your Qlik Sense installation as described here in order to use the full QVSource generated load script and be able to update the parameters in these load scripts on the fly as your script runs (or indeed, any data loads from http urls constructed 'on the fly' in your load scripts) which is often useful.

NOTE however that you can use the URL (between the [...] in the generated load script) in Qlik Sense without any configuration changes by selecting 'Create new connection' -> 'Web file'. But as noted, unfortunately you will have to create a new connection for each unique request URL. We would recommend the config change here which gives much more flexibility in the load script.

This page gives a quick walk through showing how to use QVSource with Qlik Sense although anybody familiar with other versions of QlikView should have no problem even without these notes.

Create Load Script In QVSource

This step is exactly the same as with other versions of QlikView. First locate and open the Connector you are interested in - in our example we will using Google Analytics.

Next we use the template query table to quickly grab a table showing visits from each country over the year:

Now we have validated the data, go to the "QlikView Load Script" tab and copy the auto generated script to the clipboard.

Qlik Sense

Now open Qlik Sense and click the create new app option:

Give the app a name:

And open it:

Next click the data load editor option:

Image

And paste the script from the previous step at the end of the script file:

Next, click the load data button:

At this point, Qlik Sense will communicate with QVSource in order to load the data - this should only take a second and you can confirm the data has loaded successfully on the progress/status screen:

Now go to the app overview:

Create a new sheet:

Name it:

And open it:

You can now edit the sheet:

And build up your app's interface (you can find more information about using Qlik Sense here).
